Every stitch tells a story—and for entrepreneur and master tailor Manuel Martinez, that story is one of clarity, discipline, and evolution.
Inspiration with Intention
Martinez modeled his vision after tailoring greats like Giacomo Trabalza, Bill Fioravanti, and Lou Myles. But he didn’t stop at inspiration—he sought mentorship and got hands-on experience.
“I chased greatness. And thankfully, they welcomed me in.”
Encouraged by his wife and influenced by his hardworking parents, he launched his own custom business in Louisiana in the early ’80s.
Starting Strong in a Weak Market
Martinez opened his doors during one of Louisiana’s worst economic downturns. But even in hard times, image still mattered—and he knew how to deliver it.
“It’s never the perfect time. But it’s always the right time to start.”
By aligning with leaders in the community and letting his craft speak, he gained clients without any digital tools—just word of mouth and excellence.
A Lesson in Rejection
In 1982, Martinez was rejected by the Custom Tailors and Designers Association of America. Instead of quitting, he reapplied and eventually became President in 1997.
“Rejection isn’t the end. It’s a redirect.”
His leadership brought national attention and helped establish him as an industry authority.
Pandemic-Proof Principles
When COVID-19 forced people out of suits and into sweats, Martinez didn’t panic. He pivoted—designing outdoor, casual, and performance clothing to match new lifestyles.
“I kept serving my clients—just in a new way.”
That agility kept the brand thriving while others struggled.
Forward with Purpose
Today, Martinez is training the next generation and expanding the line with custom jeans, polos, and durable field jackets. But one thing remains the same: quality and service never go out of style.
